Mountie Cross Country Competes in Idaho and Oregon

In another highly competitive race weekend, the Eastern Oregon Mountaineers found themselves showing up and showing out.

For the men’s side, the Mounties collectively finished fifth with 102 points in the LC State Invitational. Individually, Justin Ash bounced back to the front of the pack putting up a 24:22 time and landed a 6th place finish. Following him was Hunter Nichols placing 10th with a 24:32 time. Thomas Ogden and Cristian Mendoza also finished top 40 for EOU with times of 25:05 and 25:10. Winston Telford and Jonathon Wind also put up respectable times for the Mounties.

The women’s team once again found themselves among top competition from DI opponents like Portland University to fellow CCC teams Corban and Oregon Tech. For the women’s 6K, EOU was able to put up 252 points with a ninth place team finish. Sophomore Riley Morris led the Mountie pack putting up a 23:03 placing 43rd overall. Following her was Lauryn Mitchell who finished 62nd with a 23:33. Behind her was Jaiden Cochran with a 67th finish and 23:41 time. Also finishing in the top 100 for EOU was Ashley Treadwell, Mattie Woodbury, Madelyn Nicholas and Kaleah Hines with times of 23:56, 24:06, 24:08, and 24:14.

Up next for the Mounties is the Sasquatch open October 25th in Spokane Washington before they head into the CCC Championships Nov 3rd in Caldwell, Idaho.
