Mounties Enter 2023 at No. 2 in CCC

CORVALLIS, Ore. – EOU Women’s Volleyball ranked second in the Cascade Collegiate Conference after receiving 136 points in Tuesday morning’s preseason poll. The rankings were closely contested this season, with several teams separated by just a single point. The Mounties received five first place votes, just one shy of Corban University.

The Mounties will look to continue their dominance over the CCC, following a season that saw them win both the regular season and conference championship. The team is coming off a historic season that saw the program reach new heights including a national No. 1 ranking, their first ever NAIA Championship semifinal appearance, and the most wins in program history with 34.

Eastern Oregon brings back three All-CCC players from the previous season in Kara Clayton (First Team), Hailey Arritola (Second Team), and Sade Williams (Honorable Mention). The Mounties will also count on big contributions from freshman newcomers Sophie Fast and Mylie Mills, as well as NCAA Division II transfer Emma Burlingame.

The Mounties will play 29 regular season games in 2023, kicking off with two non-conference tournaments. The team will open their season on August 17th with Big Sky Challenge hosted by Montana Tech University, before traveling to Honolulu for the Magic Island Hawaii Classic starting August 25th.
