CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Cascade Collegiate Conference has recognized twelve outstanding student-athletes for their exceptional performances during this past week of action, naming them the Rize Laboratory Players of the Week. Among the honorees, four Eastern Oregon University athletes have earned individual accolades for their remarkable achievements in their respective sports.
Men’s Indoor Track & Field – Track Athlete
Eastern Oregon University’s TJ Davis, a graduate student runner from Sandpoint, Idaho, has been named the Rize Laboratory Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week. Davis showcased his speed at the EOU Lew Thorne Invite, securing a 1st place finish in the 60m hurdles with an impressive time of 8.13 seconds, meeting the “A” Standard. His performance also set both an EOU program and facility record.
Men’s Indoor Track & Field – Field Athlete
Tyler Jones, a junior jumper from Richland, Washington, has been honored as the Rize Laboratory Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week after setting a new personal and facility record in the high jump at the the Lew Thorne Invite. Soaring to a height of 2.10m, he secured an “A” Standard and a 1st place finish, ranking 7th in the NAIA this season.
Women’s Indoor Track & Field – Field Athlete
Elizabeth Grandle, a sophomore jumper from Molalla, Oregon, has been recognized as the Rize Laboratory Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week. Grandle’s outstanding performance at the EOU Lew Thorne Invite included a 1st place finish in the long jump, covering a distance of 5.34m. This achievement not only secured victory but also set a new personal record.
Softball – Pitcher
Kaylie Hoskins, a junior from Lake Stevens, Washington, has been named the Rize Laboratory Softball Pitcher of the Week. Hoskins commenced her season on a high note by throwing a shutout in Eastern Oregon University’s 3-0 victory over Simpson University. In this dominant performance, she allowed only one hit and one walk while striking out an impressive 14 batters, maintaining a perfect ERA.
