Wrestling Ranks 19th Nationally Ahead of CCC Championship

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Men’s Wrestling has secured the 19th position in the latest NAIA Men’s Wrestling Coaches’ Top 20 Rankings, leading up to the upcoming Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships hosted by Eastern Oregon in La Grande next week.

The ranking process involves a panel of head coaches, each representing one of the eight conferences/groups. Two days prior to the national ranking, qualified group raters submit their top 10 individuals from each weight class in their conference. Wrestlers listed on a conference ballot are then considered for the national ballot.

Individual rankings follow a point system, with voters assigning points to the best individuals in each weight class. A first-place vote earns 25 points, second place receives 24, and so forth. This system is also utilized to determine team rankings. To ensure fairness, the highest and lowest rankings for each team are excluded, with an additional point added for every ballot.

Within the highly competitive landscape of the Cascade Collegiate Conference, six teams have secured positions in the top twenty of the rankings. This underscores not only the national competitiveness of EOU’s wrestlers but also the overall depth of the conference.

The first day of the CCC Championships is scheduled to commence on February 16th, held at Quinn Coliseum.
