Women’s Lacrosse Falls in First Game of Southeast Road Trip

BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. — The Eastern Oregon women’s lacrosse team faced a tough defeat against Montreat College on Monday, ending with a final score of 4-21.

The Cavaliers took an early lead in the first period, getting ahead with a score of 5-0, and maintained their lead throughout.

Saydee Hetrick led the Mountaineers with two goals, followed by Natalie Vanderploeg with one goal, and Red Pratt with another goal. Jade McCoy chipped in with an assist. On the opposing side, Montreat’s offense was led by Mckinley Edmondson with 6 goals, Grace Wiegand and Hannah Jarboe with 5 goals, Madison Terrell with 4 goals, and several goals from other Cavaliers. Assists were recorded by Madison Terrell, Hannah Jarboe, and Mckinley Edmondson.

Eastern Oregon managed 13 shots throughout the game compared to Montreat’s 34 shots, with the Cavaliers accumulating 21 ground balls compared to Eastern Oregon’s 13. Goalkeeper saves were evenly matched, with Eastern Oregon making eight saves and Montreat making six.

The Eastern Oregon women’s lacrosse team will look to bounce back tomorrow when they face Life University at 3:00 p.m. EST.
