Women’s Basketball Drops Road Matchup with No. 7 LCSC

LEWISTON, Idaho – Eastern Oregon’s women’s basketball team faced the #7 ranked Lewis-Clark State on Saturday afternoon, experiencing a closely contested battle that concluded with a 63-59 defeat in a matchup between top Cascade Collegiate Conference contenders.

Throughout the game, both teams struggled to establish a significant lead, with neither side gaining more than a single-point advantage at the end of each of the first three quarters. The Warriors managed to create separation in the final moments, securing a 63-59 victory with Callie Stevens making a clutch three-pointer late in the game.

Despite connecting on 10 shots from beyond the arc, the Mounties faced shooting challenges, recording a 35.5% field goal percentage and a 33.3% three-point accuracy. The Warriors demonstrated greater efficiency, shooting at 47.4% from the field and maintaining a 37.5% accuracy rate in three-point shooting.

Despite the shooting struggles, Eastern Oregon’s defense forced 7 steals and created 18 turnovers, ultimately capitalizing on these opportunities to score 13 points off turnovers.

Brie Holecek emerged as a standout for Eastern Oregon, leading the team with 17 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists during her 40 minutes on the court. Additionally, both Beverly Slater and Haley Robinett delivered impressive all-around performances, with Slater contributing 7 points, securing 11 rebounds, and dishing out 4 assists, while Robinett had a notable impact with 12 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals.

For Lewis-Clark State, Callie Stevens led with an exceptional display, contributing 29 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists. Ellie Sander added 12 points, 2 assists, and an impressive 4 steals, while Lindsey Wilson contributed 8 points and 3 rebounds.

Eastern Oregon looks ahead to their next matchup at Quinn Coliseum against Multnomah next Friday, with the game scheduled to tip-off at 5:30 pm.
