CORVALLIS, Ore. – Tyler Jones, Kenna Woodward, and Justin Ash have each earned Rize Laboratory Players of the Week honors for their efforts over the weekend, recognized by the Cascade Collegiate Conference for their outstanding performances.
Justin Ash was named Track Athlete of the Week after the junior runner from Baker City secured a commendable third place in the 3000m-steeplechase amidst tough NCAA Dl competition. Ash set a new personal record, clocking in at 9:09.03 during the OSU High Performance meet, while also qualifying with an “A” standard and ranking as the 3rd best mark in the NAIA this season.
Tyler Jones, hailing from Richland, Washington, secured the honor of Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week by clinching victory in the high jump at the OSU High Performance meet, outperforming NCAA Dl competition. His leap of 2.10 meters not only achieved the “A” standard but also ranks as the 10th best mark in the NAIA this season.
On the women’s side, Kenna Woodward dominated the field events, achieving an impressive distance of 52.85m in the hammer throw, good for a third place finish against predominantly Dl competition. Her performance also met the “A” standard, further securing her status as the Rize Laboratory Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Eastern Oregon will return to competition next weekend at the Portland Twilight Meet on May 4th.
