Track and Field Rises in NAIA Rankings

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Following a strong showing at the Cascade Collegiate Conference Multi-Event Championships and EOU Open, the Eastern Oregon Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track & Field teams have both risen in the NAIA National Rating Index.

The women’s team notably rose to No. 17 in the nation, eight spots higher than last week’s spot. On the men’s side, the Mounties moved up five spots to No. 11.

The Mountaineers claimed the top two spots in the CCC men’s Decathlon, second in the women’s Heptathlon, seven “A” standards, two “B” standards this past weekend.

Both the men’s and women’s teams also rank highly in several individual events, listed below:

Men’s Event Rankings:
#1 – Steeplechase
#3 – 400 Meter Hurdles
#6 – 110 Meter Hurdles
#7 – Shot Put
#8 – Pole Vault
#12 – 1500 Meters
#13 – Hammer #15 – 800 Meters

Women’s Event Rankings:
#1 – Heptathlon
#2 – Javelin
#7 – High Jump
#7 – 100 Meter Hurdles

The Mounties will travel to Corvallis this weekend to compete in the OSU High Performance Meet, set to start on Friday.
