CORVALLIS, Ore. – Eastern Oregon University is proud to announce that three athletes have been named Rize Laboratory Players of the Week by the Cascade Collegiate Conference for their performances over the weekend. Jake Herrera, Kenna Woodward, and Mark Church have demonstrated exceptional performances in their respective sports, earning this prestigious recognition.
Jake Herrera | Pitcher of the Week
In baseball action, Jake Herrera’s performance as a relief pitcher was crucial in securing the Mountaineers’ first victory of the season over Simpson with a final score of 11-8. Herrera recorded a save, pitching two innings, and striking out four batters while preventing any runs from crossing the plate.
Kenna Woodward | Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
Kenna Woodward achieved her best performance of the season in the women’s weight throw, reaching a mark of 53′ 9.25″. Woodward not only secured a second-place finish at the Inland Northwest Invitational but also earned an NAIA “A” Standard. Her outstanding effort narrowly trailed only a NCAA Division I competitor.
Mark Church | Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
Mark Church also had a remarkable day in the weight throw, setting a personal record with a toss of 56′ 10″. Church’s outstanding performance not only secured him a second-place finish but also earned an NAIA “A” Standard. Additionally, his throw ranks 6th all-time in EOU Track and Field history for the event.
