Three Mounties Earn All-Conference Honors, Holecek Named Defensive Player of the Year

LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Cascade Collegiate Conference has announced its 2023-24 Women’s Basketball All-Conference Team, with three Mountaineers recognized for their performances this season. Bayley Brennan, Beverly Slater, and Brie Holecek have all earned well-deserved spots on the all-conference team. In addition to her all-conference honor, Holecek has also been named CCC Defensive Player of the Year.

Brie Holecek | Defensive Player of the Year & All-Conference
Holecek, a junior forward hailing from Spokane, Wash., was not only recognized as an All-Conference player but also voted as Co-Defensive Player of the Year alongside Chariah Daniels of Walla Walla University. She took care of business on the glass and defensive end, posting 174 total rebounds averaging 6.2 rebounds per game. Additionally, Holecek was an offensive force, ranking sixth in the conference with 16.1 points per game, 18th with a field goal percentage of .443, and sixth with a three-point percentage of .374.

Bayley Brennan | All-Conference
Brennan, a graduate student from Post Falls, Idaho, made her mark on the conference with her scoring ability, ranking ninth with an impressive 14.6 points per game. She also demonstrated her proficiency from beyond the arc, leading the conference with 3.2 three-pointers per game and boasting a three-point percentage of .385. Following her 2023-24 campaign, Brennan now ranks fourth all-time in program history with 94 made three-pointers in a single season.

Beverly Slater | All-Conference
Slater’s contributions to the team were also recognized, particularly her ability to rebound and distribute the ball. She ranked second in the conference with an average of 11.0 rebounds per game, while leading the CCC with 3.5 offensive rebounds per game. The senior’s efficiency on the court was also evident, as she held a field goal percentage of .483 while ranking third in the conference with a 1.7 assist turnover ratio. Slater recently broke Eastern Oregon’s all-time rebounding record, becoming the only Mountie to cross 1,000 points and rebounds.
