CORVALLIS, Ore. – Eastern Oregon Softball has been recognized as the Under Armour Team of the Week by the Cascade Collegiate Conference following an impressive opening weekend to the 2024 conference softball season.
Eastern Oregon’s softball team demonstrated their strength with two victories over Oregon Tech, the reigning CCC Champions and NAIA runner-up. Despite facing a formidable opponent ranked No. 1 in the CCC and NAIA preseason polls, EOU emerged victorious in two out of three games.
The first game saw a thrilling performance from Gates Leatherwood, whose walk-off two-run homer secured a 2-1 victory for EOU. Kaylie Hoskins delivered an exceptional pitching performance, throwing seven scoreless innings and striking out nine Owls.
In the second game, EOU dominated with a 10-0 victory, highlighted by a strong offensive showing led by Madelyn Durham’s impressive hitting. Kylie Parsons delivered a shutout performance on the mound, allowing only two hits.
Although EOU fell short in the third game with a 3-1 loss, their overall performance secured a series win over OIT. Notably, their victories marked both the largest and smallest margin victories over OIT.
Looking ahead, Eastern Oregon Softball will take on Corban University in Salem, Ore., on Friday and Saturday.
