LA GRANDE, Ore. – Following an impressive series of victories last weekend, Eastern Oregon Softball has jumped ten spots to secure the No. 14 rank in the nation according to the most recent NAIA Softball Coaches’ Top 25 Rankings.
The Mounties’ surge in the rankings comes on the heels of series against the previously top-ranked Oregon Tech Owls. Eastern Oregon emerged victorious in two out of three games, notably delivering a resounding 10-0 run-rule victory. The team now sits with an overall record of 9-3, with a commendable 2-1 performance in conference play.
The NAIA Softball Coaches’ Top 25 Rankings, determined by a panel of head coaches representing various conferences and the Continental Athletic Conference, utilize a meticulous points system. Each coach’s ranking contributes to a team’s overall points, with 30 points awarded for a first-place vote, 29 for second place, and so forth. Notably, the highest and lowest rankings for each team are discarded to ensure fairness and accuracy in the rankings. Furthermore, teams garner an additional point for each ballot they appear on, further refining the rankings.
Eastern Oregon’s ascent in the rankings underscores their impressive season so far on the diamond and signals an exciting season ahead for the Mountaineers.
