LA GRANDE, Ore. – The nationally ranked No. 15 Eastern Oregon Softball was back in action at home Thursday as they took on the Argos of The University of Providence in a Cascade Collegiate Conference doubleheader. The Mounties showed to be too much for the Argos as they shut them out in both games. Eastern took game one by a score of 4-0 and game two by a score of 8-0 in five innings behind a no-hit performance from Kylie Parsons.
GAME ONE
The game started with both teams holding each other off the scoreboard through the first two innings. However, Eastern Oregon broke the deadlock in the bottom of the third inning. Addison Ribordy got things started with a groundout that allowed Katelynn Evans to cross the plate. Madelyn Durham then singled to right field, driving in Carlee Jensen to extend the lead. Kelly Monaghan furthered the Mountaineer lead with a double down the left-field line, bringing in Durham. Monaghan later scored on a wild pitch to give EOU a commanding 4-0 lead. Kaylie Hoskins was stellar in the circle, tossing a complete-game shutout. Hoskins allowed only two hits while striking out an impressive 15 batters. Hoskins and Eastern closed out the Argos in the top of the seventh inning to take game one by a score of 4-0.
