No. 14 Mountaineers Complete Road Sweep of Warriors

SALEM, Ore. – Nationally ranked No.14 Eastern Oregon was back in action Saturday to complete the second set of games in their four-game series with the Warriors of Corban University. The Mountaineers completed the sweep, shutting-out the Warriors in game one to take an 8-0 victory and taking game two by a score of 5-1.

GAME ONE 

Eastern Oregon took control early, scoring four runs in the second inning highlighted by a Katelynn Evans single up the middle that drove in two runs. The Mounties extended their lead in the third inning with another huge four run inning, taking the score to 8-0. Eastern cruised to the finish line taking the game in the fifth inning by a score of 8-0 behind another terrific performance in the circle by Kaylie Hoskins. Hoskins gave up just one hit in five innings of work while adding nine strikeouts.

Game Two

The Warriors took an early first-inning lead after a groundout brought a runner home. It took until the fifth inning for the Mountaineers to respond and they did in a big way scoring all five of their runs in the inning. A Gates Leatherwood single through the left side ignited the Mounties, bringing home Grace Spencer to tie the game up at one. Haley Tyree then delivered a single to center field, bringing in Addison Ribordy. Katelynn Evans extended the lead with a single to left field, bringing in another run to make the score 3-1. Hannah Tyree then sealed the deal with a single through the left side, driving in two more runs to further extend the lead to 5-1. A combo of Natalie Dimitrov and Kylie Parsons held Corban to five hits while adding a collective of seven strikeouts.

Key Performers

Eastern Oregon will be back in action as they return home on Friday, Mar. 15 to take on the Thunderbirds of the University of British Columbia for the first two games of a four-game series. First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m.
