KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Nationally ranked No. 10 Eastern Oregon Softball was back in action Friday as they took on the Saints of Carroll College in the Opening Round of the Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament. Eastern went on to take the opening round match up by a score of 2-1.
Eastern Oregon got on the board in the second inning when Kelly Monaghan singled to right field, bringing in Madelyn Durham, who advanced to third and scored on a fielding error by the right fielder, to give the Mountaineers a 2-0 lead. Carroll rallied in the sixth inning, with Kenna Thomas scoring on a passed ball to cut Eastern Oregon’s lead to 2-1. Eastern’s pitching staff held strong throughout the game, with Kaylie Hoskins delivering an impressive performance on the mound. Hoskins pitched 5.1 innings, allowing just one run while striking out an impressive 13 batters. Kylie Parsons came in for relief in the sixth and seventh innings, securing the save for Eastern Oregon.
In the fourth inning, the Mounties Haley Tyree broke the single season steals record, recording her 28th stolen base of the 2024 season.
