Nichols, Hollon, and McDonald Named Daktronics Scholar-Athletes

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics has announced the recipients of the 2023 Daktronics Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Scholar-Athlete honors on Thursday. A total of 491 male and 626 female student-athletes made the 2023 list, each achieving a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.5 at their respective institutions. To be eligible for nomination, student-athletes must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, appear on the eligibility certificate for their sport, and have completed a full year at the institution.

Standing out among these academic achievers are three outstanding individuals from Eastern Oregon University’s Men’s and Women’s Cross Country teams: Hunter Nichols, Emma Hollon, and Jessica McDonald. These athletes have demonstrated exceptional dedication to both in the classroom and on the course, earning them a place among the elite scholars recognized by the NAIA.

These athletes, alongside their teammates, are gearing up for the upcoming 2023 NAIA National Championship in Vancouver, Washington, scheduled for tomorrow. The race is set to commence at 10:30 am for the women and 11:30 am for the men.
