NAIA Names Freshman Mylie Mills National Defender of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Eastern Oregon University is proud to announce that Mylie Mills has been named National Defender of the Week by the NAIA.

A freshman middle hitter hailing from Boise, Mills receives the honor less than two weeks into her collegiate career. Mills is the first Mountie to receive a National Player of the Week honor since Cambree Scott won Defender of the Week last season. This Eastern Oregon volleyball team has seen a number of players step up in a addition to Mills this season, reloading after an impressive season to start 7-0 this year.

In the recent Magic Island Hawaii Classic, Mills displayed her formidable defensive skills, registering an average of 2.38 blocks per set and contributing three digs. The freshman was a game-changer at the net, tallying 19 total blocks on the weekend. This effort was crucial towards Eastern Oregon maintaining its undefeated streak over the weekend. Additionally, Mills showcased her versatility with 12 kills and an impressive .290 kill percentage, impacting the game on both offense and defense.
