LA GRANDE, Ore – The Eastern Oregon Women’s Soccer team was back in action Saturday evening as they took on the Warriors of Corban University. Despite a sluggish start the Mounties ultimately took the match by a score of 2-1.
The Mountaineers got off to a slow start in the first half of the match and the Warriors took advantage. Corban took the lead after Emilly Olvera scored at the 36:16 mark, assisted by Josie Brence. The Warriors went into the halftime break with a 1-0 lead.
As the second half began, the Mounties looked to shake off their first half and that is exactly what they did as Lindsay Balkenbush found the back of the net at the 46:53 mark, tying the match at 1-1, with an assist from Sydney Peck. The Mountaineers efforts paid off again at the 53:28 when Peck scored a goal of her own, assisted by Brooke Snyder. The goal by Peck proved to be the deciding play as Eastern held a 2-1 lead after 90 minutes of play.

Prior to the match, Eastern Oregon honored their nine graduating seniors, Kana Mateaki, Erika Skindlov, Tally Connors, Madison Hicks, Baylee Shewchuk, Darby McDevitt, Mackenzie Huotari, Lindsay Balkenbush and Emmy Williams for their hard work and dedication to the Eastern Oregon Women’s Soccer team.
Eastern Oregon will be back in action Friday, Oct. 27 as they travel to Portland, Ore. to take on the Knights of Warner Pacific University. Match time is set for 2:30 p.m.
