LA GRANDE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon was back in action Friday evening as they took on the Battlin’ Bears of Rocky Mountain College. The Mountaineers ultimately took the match by a score of 2-0.
The Mountie defense showed to be the difference in the first half , limiting the Battlin’ Bear offense to just one shot. Eastern found the first goal of the match in the 26th minute after Erika Skindlov found the back of the net, assisted by Hailey Rogan. The Mountaineers first half scoring was not done there as Darby McDevitt tacked on another goal in the 33rd minute, assisted by Brooke Snyder. After 45 minutes of play, EOU led Rocky Mountain by a score of 2-0.
The second half of the match was similar to the first as the Mounties relied on their defense to finish the game. The Battlin’ Bears tallied two shots in the half, each of which were saved by Mountaineer goalkeeper Kennady Flint. EOU racked up seven shots in the half, three of which were on goal, but were unable to find the back of the net. After 90 minutes of play, Eastern led RMC by a score of 2-0 to improve to 4-0-3 overall in the 2023 season and 2-0-1 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play.

Eastern Oregon will be back in action Friday, Sept. 29 as they take on the Owls of Oregon Tech at home. Match time is set for 6:30 p.m.
