Mounties Split Weekend with Warriors

KEIZER, Ore.- The Eastern Oregon Mountaineers (3-33) rounded out their series against the Corban University Warriors (15-27) in Keizer, Oregon on Sunday. EOU took game one 6-4, where two Mounties put up homeruns to take the lead. Corban bounced back and had a late game win, taking the game 5-4 in the bottom of the ninth in game two. Next up for EOU is NCAA Division III opponent Whitman College. EOU will play a single game in Walla Walla, Washington at 3 p.m. at Borleske Stadium on Tuesday.

GAME 1
EOU was able to grab their third win of the season, edging out Corban 6-4. Mario Landeros and Danny Burns each had a home run in the third inning to put the Mounties on top. EOU was able to add two more late game runs to secure the win. Jaydon Yancey tossed in five strikeouts to help hold the Warriors, while Jeter Larson came in earning the save. EOU put up 13 hits with five RBIs to help them take game one.

GAME 2 
Game two was a battle between the Mounties and the Warriors. There were six scoreless innings. Austin Gerding and Rogelio Gonzales each had an RBI to put EOU back on top in the seventh inning. Eastern couldn’t hold on when Corban rallied and took the late game win, scoring two in the bottom of the ninth to take the game and split the series with a 5-4 final in game two.
