Olympia, WA – The Eastern Oregon Mountaineers (0-4-2) ended their opening CCC weekend against the Evergreen State College Geoducks (2-4-0). Evergreen State took the game in a 3-1 win over the Mounties.
Evergreen State opened the scoring in the 32nd minute when Emmanuel Nicasio found the back of the net with an assist by Jesus Flores.
Just six minutes later, Evergreen State extended their lead. This time, Kolby Juarez capitalized on an assist from Flores, leading 2-0 into halftime.
It was an evenly matched game as Evergreen State only outshot Eastern 16-15, but Andreas Malunat found the back of the net for the Geoducks, giving them a 3-0 lead with under 10 to go. The Mounties battled as Greer Snellman fed Carlos Rodriguez a ball that snuck past the keeper, getting them within two in the 88th minute. However, both defenses locked in and no more goals were allowed in the game’s final minutes.
Eastern Oregon looks forward to more CCC play as they host Rocky Mountain College (Mont.) Friday, September 22nd at 4 P.M. in Community Stadium.
