Mounties Complete Weekend Sweep of Beacons on Senior Day

LA GRANDE, Ore. – No.11 Eastern Oregon Softball was back in action Saturday for their final home games of the regular season. Eastern took game one over the Beacons of Bushnell University by a score of 2-1 and later completed the weekend sweep with a 10-1 game two victory in five innings. 

GAME ONE

The game remained scoreless until the second inning when Bushnell’s Hannah Tennant powered a solo home run to right center, putting Bushnell ahead 1-0. Eastern’s offense struggled to find its rhythm until the bottom of the seventh inning. With the game on the line, Kelly Monaghan stepped up with a clutch double down the right-field line, driving in two runs, propelling the Mounties to a 2-1 game one victory. Kaylie Hoskins delivered a strong performance for the Mounties, allowing just one run on four hits while striking out an impressive 14 batters over six innings. Kylie Parsons provided solid relief pitching in the seventh inning to secure the win.

GAME TWO

Eastern’s offense exploded in the second inning, scoring six runs to take a commanding lead. Maddy Stateler kick-started the scoring with a double to right field, bringing in two runs. Haley Tyree followed with a double of her own, driving in another run. Addison Ribordy and Gates Leatherwood contributed with RBI singles, extending the Mounties lead to 6-0. The scoring continued in the third and fourth innings, with EOU adding three more runs to their tally. Katelynn Evans delivered a two-RBI single in the fourth inning to widen the gap even further.

Kylie Parsons delivered a solid performance in the circle, allowing just one run on four hits while striking out six batters over 3.1 innings. Macao Jackson provided solid relief pitching, allowing only one run in 1.2 innings of work.
