HELENA, Mont. – Nationally ranked No. 15 Eastern Oregon softball was back in action Friday afternoon as they took on the Saints of Carroll College in a Cascade Collegiate Conference doubleheader. Eastern remained hot, extending their win streak to 12 games as they took game one by a score of 2-0 and game two by a score of 6-0.
GAME ONE
The game was scoreless until the top of the second inning when Eastern’s Madelyn Durham delivered a double, bringing Gates Leatherwood home and giving the Mountaineers a 1-0 lead. EOU extended their lead in the fifth inning after a Haley Tyree double brought in Maddy Stateler to make it 2-0. Last week’s NAIA pitcher of the week, Kaylie Hoskins put on another stellar performance. Hoskins went the distance, throwing a complete game shutout while adding 16 strikeouts. Hoskins and the Mountaineers closed out the Saints in the bottom of the seventh.

GAME TWO
Eastern found the first run of the game in the third inning after Kelly Monaghan launched a solo home run to give Eastern Oregon a 1-0 lead. The Mountaineers then piled on four more runs in the inning. Karly Hanosky knocked in two runs with a single which was followed by an RBI walk for Gates Leatherwood to take the score to 4-0. Eastern added their final run of the inning after a passed ball allowed Hannah Tyree to score. The Mounties extended their lead in the fourth inning after a Hannah Tyree single scored Brylin Field to take the game to its final score, 6-0. Kylie Parsons was in the circle for the Mountaineers to start game two and she delivered. Parson threw a complete-game shutout allowing just four hits and striking out four batters.
