LA GRANDE, Ore. – Despite a much lower-scoring affair than Saturday’s doubleheader, Eastern Oregon Baseball was unable to come away with a victory over the Beacons of Bushnell University on Sunday at Optimist Field.
Game One
The Beacons set the tone early in game one, with Ethan Stacy’s sacrifice bunt allowing Albert Jennings to score and claim an early lead in the first inning. Kyle Casperson then ripped an RBI single through the left side, giving Bushnell a 2-0 advantage.
Eastern Oregon responded in the bottom of the first inning, as Mario Landeros’s double to left field brought in Chase Nett, narrowing the deficit by one run.
In the second inning, Jordan Wilson pushed a home run over the left field fence to score two runs, followed by a single to left field from Liam Kerr in the third, bringing in Devin Carter and making it 5-1.
The Beacons further solidified their lead in the fourth inning when Wilson doubled to left field, allowing Ethan Paulson to score, resulting in the 6-1 victory.

Game Two
After two innings of scoreless baseball in game two, Bushnell eventually took the lead in the third inning after Devin Carter ignited the offense with a powerful homer to left field. Jordan Wilson followed suit with a double to left center, bringing in Isaiah Hart and extending Bushnell’s lead to 2-0.
Eastern Oregon got on the board in the sixth inning, as Mario Landeros delivered a clutch homer to left field, bringing in Joey Freitas and leveling the score at 2-2.
Despite the Mounties’ push in the sixth, Bushnell managed to regain the lead in the seventh inning, as Adam Sabatino crossed home plate on a wild pitch, putting the Beacons back in the lead.
Bushnell clinched the game in the eighth inning, courtesy of Cade Crist’s homer to left field, driving in Ethan Stacy and claiming a 5-2 victory for the Beacons.

The Mounties will travel to Lewiston, Idaho next weekend to face the No. 7 ranked Warriors of Lewis-Clark State on March 23rd.
