ATHENS, Tenn. – The Eastern Oregon women’s lacrosse team faced a challenging match against Tennessee Wesleyan at the TWU Athletic Complex on Wednesday, ultimately falling with a final score of 19-9. The Mounties tied their season-high scoring total, finding the back of the net nine times for the second time this season.
Tennessee Wesleyan took a commanding lead after outscoring the Mounties 7-2 in both the first and second quarters. Eastern Oregon fought back in the second half, but Tennessee Wesleyan maintained their lead, ultimately securing the victory by ten goals.
The Bulldogs controlled the game with 25 shots compared to Eastern Oregon’s 13, while also winning the ground ball and draw control margin throughout the game.
Leading the scoring for Eastern Oregon were Saydee Hetrick and Jade McCoy, each contributing three goals. They were supported by Red Pratt, Maddy Woodruff, and Claire Bever, who added one goal each.
Kate Buchannan led Tennessee Wesleyan’s offense with an five goals, followed by Jozlyn Long and Olivia Downey, each contributing three goals.
The Mountaineers will next travel to Salem for their rematch with the Warriors of Corban University, set to start at 1:00 pm on April 7th.
