Mountaineers Defeat Beacons 60-57 on Senior Night

LA GRANDE, Ore. — Eastern Oregon women’s basketball took care of business on Senior Night, handing Bushnell a 60-57 loss to close out regular season play. The Mounties honored all four seniors in Beverly Slater, Bayley Brennan, Macie Elliott, and Haley Robinett for their contributions over the past couple of seasons, celebrating the impact they have made on the program both on and off the court.

Bushnell claimed a 16-13 lead after one quarter of play, but the Mounties fought back to head into halftime with a five-point lead. Eastern Oregon held onto an eight-point lead with 1:12 to play, but the Beacons closed the gap to just two points after a made three from Aspen Slifka. However, key free throws from seniors Bayley Brennan and Haley Robinett helped ice the game in the final seconds, securing the win for EOU. The Mounties shot 15-18 from the charity stripe throughout the contest, playing a crucial role in the victory.

Leading the charge for Eastern Oregon was Bayley Brennan, whose impressive performance included sinking four three-pointers and a game-high 24 points. Beverly Slater also made significant contributions, dominating the boards with 15 rebounds and a 13-point double-double.

Bushnell put up a strong fight, with Slifka leading the scoring for her team with 22 points and an impressive nine rebounds.

The Beacons were impressive down low, outscoring the Mountaineers 32-18 in the paint. However, Eastern Oregon held the edge on the boards, outrebounding Bushnell 41-36.

Securing the win, the Mounties conclude the regular season with a record of 20-6 overall and 16-6 in Cascade Collegiate Conference action. Securing the 4th seed in the conference tournament, EOU swiftly gears up to confront the Bushnell Beacons once again at home on Tuesday in the initial round of the CCC Tournament, with tip-off scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
