Mills and McMurtrey Return as CCC Players of the Week

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Eastern Oregon University is proud to announce that two of its standout volleyball players, Mylie Mills and Alexis McMurtrey, have been recognized as Rize Laboratory Volleyball Players of the Week.

Mylie Mills, a freshman middle hitter hailing from Nampa, Idaho, was given the honor of Rize Laboratory Volleyball Defender of the Week. Over the past weekend, Mills showcased her defensive capabilities with 15 blocks, averaging an impressive 2.14 blocks per set. Not just a defender, Mills also played a pivotal role in the offensive with 10 kills and a commendable .333 attack percentage. Her remarkable performance was instrumental in the Mounties’ triumph over the No. 16 ranked Southern Oregon University and Oregon Tech. This marks the second time Mills has been named Defensive Player of the Week, adding to her impressive freshman resume that includes a NAIA National Player of the Week honor.

Alexis McMurtrey continues her streak of excellence by being named the Rize Laboratory Volleyball Setter of the Week for the third consecutive week, marking her fourth recognition this season and the seventh of her career. McMurtrey directed play for Eastern Oregon over the weekend by racking up 40 assists, which translates to an average of 5.71 per set. Further accelerating her team’s performance, she contributed 22 digs, averaging 3.14 per set, in the crucial wins against No. 16 Southern Oregon University and Oregon Tech.
