MANHEIM, Pa. – Eastern Oregon University Men’s Wrestling has secured the top position in the 2024 NAIA Men’s Team Scholar All-America rankings, as announced by the National Wrestling Coaches Association. The Mountaineers finished the season with an impressive team GPA of 3.6358, the highest in the nation at the NAIA level.
“I am very proud of this team and the hard work they continue to do,” said Head Coach Dustyn Azure. “This year’s team has impressed me with their commitment and consistency to work hard on and off the mat. They exemplify what a student-athlete looks like and what we want in our program.”
Eastern Oregon recently had five athletes earn the honor of NAIA Men’s Scholar All-America honors, with Braden Carson, Cody Glenn, Kyle Knudtson, Jay Smith, and Hunter Sparks all recognized for their outstanding work in the classroom and on the mat.
“A big thank you to Assistant Coach Torivio Gallegos, he continues to find ways to help our wrestlers stay motivated and committed to academic excellence,” added Azure. “Also, the professors who hold our athletes accountable and help work with our busy schedules.”
