Men’s Wrestling Daktronics Scholar Athletes Announced

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The NAIA proudly announced the recipients of the 2023-24 Daktronics NAIA Men’s Wrestling Scholar-Athletes, honoring athletes across the country for their academic and athletic success. Eastern Oregon celebrates the recognition of five exceptional wrestlers: Hunter Sparks, Braden Carson, Kyle Knudtson, Jay Smith, and Darrian Hoobery.

The roster of 253 scholar-athletes from 54 institutions nationwide underscores the commitment to academic achievement within collegiate wrestling. To attain this honor, individuals must maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher while demonstrating exemplary dedication to their sport. The nomination process, overseen by institution head coaches or sports information directors, ensures that nominees embody the essence of academic and athletic excellence.

In addition to their outstanding academic achievements, Hunter Sparks, Braden Carson, Kyle Knudtson, and Jay Smith have earned the opportunity to compete at the 67th NAIA Men’s Wrestling Championship. This event spans three days, with six sessions set to unfold from Thursday, February 29th, to Saturday, March 2nd.
