LA GRANDE, Ore. – In a tightly contested Friday evening match, Eastern Oregon and Oregon Tech’s men’s soccer teams ultimately ending in a 0-0 stalemate. Despite the teams’ best efforts, neither side was able to break through the solid defenses and goalkeeping presented by both squads.
The first half saw Eastern Oregon take 6 shots with Oregon Tech close behind with 5 shots, both unable to connect. Kevin Pullara of EOU made 3 impressive saves in the first half, while his counterpart at Oregon Tech, Ryan Solis, made 2 saves. The teams were almost equal in corner kicks, with Oregon Tech slightly leading by securing 4 compared to Eastern Oregon’s 2. The half ended with Oregon Tech committing 3 fouls and Eastern Oregon with 2.
The second half displayed a surge in Eastern Oregon’s offensive attempts with 7 shots taken compared to Oregon Tech’s 1 shot. The defenders and goalkeepers remained ready, ensuring that the match ended in a draw. Pullara and Solis maintained a clean sheet, making no additional saves in the second half. Despite the close score in a competitive match, no cards were issued to either team.
Friday’s draw moves the Mountaineers to 2-4-3 on the season and 2-2-1 in Cascade Conference play. EOU will return to Community Stadium at 4:30 p.m. tomorrow when they take on the Raiders of Southern Oregon University.
