Men’s Soccer Drops First Game in Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. – Eastern Oregon traveled to Warner Pacific in a clash that saw the Knights clinch a 3-0 victory over the Mounties on Friday afternoon.

In the first half, Warner Pacific set the pace early on. Mateo Rusca found the back of the net in the 22nd minute with an assist from Bryce McCole, opening the scoring for the home team. They continued their pressure and were rewarded again in the 42nd minute when Chanin Orlandin netted an unassisted goal, doubling their lead before halftime.

Eastern Oregon, despite having a total of 9 shots throughout the match, struggled to find their rhythm. Warner Pacific’s goalkeeper, Josepher Juarez-Cruz, secured 4 saves and ensured a clean sheet for his team.

The second half continued in favor of Warner Pacific. Antonio Cipriano-Ojendiz added the third goal in the 55th minute, capitalizing on an assist from Brendon Leach. While Eastern Oregon did manage 5 shots in the second half, they were unable to break through the solid Warner Pacific defense. Warner Pacific’s also held a significant edge in corner kicks, with 10 compared to Eastern Oregon’s 2.

Eastern Oregon, now with a season record of 3-8-5, will aim to recover from this setback when they face Multnomah University tomorrow afternoon at 12:00 p.m.
