WALLA WALLA, Wash. – In a commanding performance at Windemuth Court, Eastern Oregon men’s basketball triumphed over Walla Walla with a resounding final score of 104-59. The visiting Mountaineers boasted an overall field goal percentage of 57.5%, as well as shooting 53.6% from distance. Eastern Oregon doubled the Wolves’ efforts on the glass, pulling down 49 rebounds compared to the Wolves’ 24.
Eastern Oregon’s offense was led by a balanced scoring effort, with Aj Huddleston and Garrett Hawkes leading the way. The duo shot a combined 8-11 from deep, with Huddleston finishing with 15 points and Hawkes with 14.
The Mountaineers also relied heavily on their bench, with Eastern Oregon’s reserves contributing 51 points. Kamal Muhammad finished the afternoon with a double-double performance of 13 rebounds and 10 points, and Preston Chandler added 13 points as well.
The Eastern Oregon defense was equally impactful, forcing 13 turnovers and accumulating 7 steals throughout the game. Walla Walla struggled to keep up with the Mounties’ offensive pace, despite a solid 14-point performance from Thomas Mestrov.
With Friday’s win, the Mountaineers advance to 8-7 in conference play, set to match up with Lewis-Clark State tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. in Lewiston.
