Late Jacaway Goal Ends Match in a Draw

LA GRANDE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon Women’s Soccer was back in action Friday evening as they took on the Hustlin’ Owls of Oregon Tech. The match ultimately ended in a 1-1 draw. 

The first half saw both teams battling for control of the game. However, it was Oregon Tech who managed to break the deadlock at the 29:40 mark, Kiana Jacobson scored the only goal of the half, an unassisted effort from deep that gave the Owls a 1-0. The Mounties racked up eight shots in the half with two coming on goal but were unable to find the back of the net. After 45 minutes of play the score of the match stayed at 1-0.

As the second half proceeded Eastern looked to shake off their first half struggles. It was a strong defensive half for both squads until the final minutes of the game when Eastern Oregon’s Peyton Jacaway managed to tie the game up at one with an 88th minute goal. Emmy Williams and Karina DeYoung were credited with assists on the play. The late goal by Jacaway was the final goal of the evening as the Mountaineers tied with the Hustlin’ Owls 1-1.
