Five Mounties Advance to CCC Semi-Finals

LA GRANDE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon opened the first day of the 2024 Cascade Collegiate Championships on Friday evening in Quinn Coliseum. The No. 17 ranked Mountaineers finished the day with a total of 44.5 points, currently sitting at sixth in the standings after one day of action.

Several Mounties are poised for a big day tomorrow, with Hunter Sparks, Braden Carson, A.J. Rockwell, Kyle Knudtson, and Jay Smith all advancing to the semi-finals. All five finished day one without a loss, but the highlight of the day came in the form of Carson’s last-second decision victory over Mario Sandoval, securing a takedown in the final seconds to advance.

Josh Collins, Cole Cross, and Darrian Hoobery will also have another chance tomorrow, fighting their way through the consolation bracket for a shot at third place.
