OLYMPIA, Wash. – In their final regular-season road game, the Eastern Oregon men’s basketball team narrowly fell to the Evergreen State Geoducks with a final score of 80-83 on Saturday evening.
Despite pulling down 12 more boards and attempting 16 more field goals than the Geoducks, 19 Mountaineer turnovers provided Evergreen with the opportunity to take the contest. The Geoducks knocked down 13 threes in the game, also shooting an efficient 12-15 from the free-throw line. Eastern Oregon finished the night shooting 43.2% from the field and 32.3% from distance.
Eastern Oregon’s offense was led by Garrett Hawkes, who delivered an outstanding performance with 32 points, six three-pointers, and three steals. Jaden Hansen also made significant contributions with 12 points, while Kamal Muhammad added 8 points and 10 rebounds.
Evergreen State’s offense proved to be slightly more efficient, with Jayden Upshaw leading all scorers with an impressive 33-point outing. The senior knocked down five threes while also recording six rebounds, three assists, three steals, and a block. Elijah Mclaughlin also added 16 points for the Geoducks.
The Mounties will return to action next weekend when they face Corban University on February 23rd, set to tip-off at 5:00 p.m. at Quinn Coliseum.
