EOU Wrestling Remains 18th in National Rankings

KANSAS CITY, Mo – Following an impressive display at the Missouri Valley Invite, the Eastern Oregon University’s wrestling team continues to hold their ground in the latest NAIA Men’s Wrestling Coaches’ Top 20 Rankings, securing the 18th spot. The rating process involves a panel of head coaches, each representing one of the eight conferences/groups. Two days before the national rating, qualified group raters submit their top 10 individuals from each weight class in their conference. Wrestlers listed on a conference ballot are then considered for the national ballot. Individual rankings are based on a point system where each voter assigns points to the best individuals in each weight class. A first-place vote earns 25 points, second place receives 24, and so on. This system is also applied to determine team rankings. To ensure fairness, the highest and lowest rankings for each team are excluded, with an additional point added for every ballot. In the competitive landscape of the Cascade Collegiate Conference, to which Eastern Oregon proudly belongs, six teams have secured positions in the top twenty of the rankings. This not only emphasizes the how competitive EOU’s wrestlers are nationally, but also highlights the depth of the conference as a whole. The team’s recent success at the Missouri Valley Invitational culminated in an overall 19th place finish, with standout performer Kyle Knudtson securing a commendable third place in the 197-pound category. The Mountaineers will travel Corban University this Sunday for a duel in Salem, set to get started at 3:00 p.m.
