Eastern Oregon University’s Women’s Basketball team, rocking their breast cancer awareness jerseys, took on the Lady Geoducks from Evergreen State University this last Friday, February 11, 2022.
We had special guests, the students from Greenwood elementary, so the Mounties performed and came out with a 73-67 WIN. It was a close game, beginning with five personal fouls from the Geoducks and one from the Mountaineers.
Going into the second half, the Mounties showed they were ready for battle with Tia (#24) scoring 6 points in the last minute 39 seconds. Mounties, barely down 36-44, going into the 3rd quarter.
During the outstanding halftime routine, EOU Cheer and Dance did an electric performance to the song “Attention” by Kendrick Hall. The Mountaineers started the second half of the game with strong defense and offense pulled ahead within the first three minutes, making the score 45-44.
Mounties continued to battle throughout the third quarter going into the fourth at a nail-biting 59-57. Mounties went back and forth with the Geoducks, squeezing out a win by 6 points, finishing the game 73-67.
A shout-out to the Stud Lady Mounties that helped make this win possible: Robinett (#33) leading her team in rebounds with 9, Leifke (#22) leading the team in points with an amazing 21, and Stricklin (#11) with a staggering 5 of the 18 assists. A huge thank you to the Women’s Basketball Team for making me proud to be a Mountie.
