La Grande, Ore. – In a showdown at Quinn Coliseum, Eastern Oregon asserted their dominance against Warner Pacific, sweeping the match in three straight sets. The Mountaineers of Eastern Oregon maintained an unblemished record, sitting at 11-0 overall and 4-0 in CCC play, while Warner Pacific struggled, moving to a 1-11 season record and 1-4 in the CCC.
Eastern Oregon commanded the first set, eventually winning the 25-15. Eastern Oregon’s offense was driven by the synergy between Hannah Ledgerwood, who consistently set up her teammates, and standout hitters such as Ashton Haughton and Sade Williams. Williams recorded six total kills throughout the first set, and Haughton rattled off four of the last five points in the set.
In the face of an initial deficit, Eastern Oregon rallied impressively to regain control of the second set. The Mountaineers dominated the latter part of the game, prompting Warner Pacific to call a timeout when the score reached 19-16. Despite taking time to regroup, Eastern Oregon went on the 6-1 run and claimed the second set.
Eastern Oregon pulled out a 25-22 victory in the third set, claiming their sixth sweep in a row. Eastern Oregon was statistically superior across all three sets, recording a .265 hitting percentage compared to Warner Pacific’s .099. Although both teams each registered three service errors, Eastern Oregon maintained 14 block blocks at the net, dwarfing Warner Pacific’s total of 3.
