EOU Men’s Soccer Shows Out in First Home Game

LA GRANDE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon men’s soccer displayed offensive dominance in a 4-1 victory over Rocky Mountain University Friday evening, marking the first official home game of the season for the Mounties.

The Mountaineers wasted no time establishing their control over the pitch. With a commanding performance in the first half, they netted three goals, starting with Dawson Heuett’s strike at the 22:21 mark, assisted by Carlos RodriguezMilton Hernandez followed suit, doubling the lead for Eastern Oregon with a goal in the 33:14 minute, thanks to an assist by Edgar Romero Perez. Perez himself found the back of the net just before halftime, scoring the team’s third in the 40:13 minute, assisted Zhengning Lu.

Rocky Mountain attempted a comeback in the second half when Tor Swann put them on the board with an unassisted goal at the 46:59 mark. However, Eastern Oregon continued their dominance and sealed their victory with a fourth goal in the 84:42 minute, courtesy of Chris Quintero and assisted by Milton Hernandez.

A chippy contest, five total cards were shown in the second half. Statistically, the match was fairly balanced. Rocky Mountain managed 12 shots in total, with only 3 on target, while Eastern Oregon registered 13 shots, 6 of which were on target. Both goalkeepers made 2 saves each. In the battle for set-pieces, Eastern Oregon had the edge, securing 6 corner kicks to Rocky Mountain’s 4.

The Mounties will look to ride this momentum into Sunday’s matchup with the Wolves of Walla Walla University. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
