EOU Drops Match to Southern

LA GRANDE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon Men’s Soccer was back in action Saturday as they took on the Raiders of Southern Oregon University. The Mountaineers ultimately dropped the match at a score of 3-0.

The first half of the match saw Southern Oregon start taking control as the Mountaineers struggled to find their groove. At the 28:09 mark, Adrian Villegas scored the opening goal, assisted by Alan Gaytan, putting the Raiders in the lead 1-0. EOU racked up three shots in the half, but were unable to find the back of the net. After 45 minutes of play the score remained 1-0.

Southern Oregon built off of their strong first half early as Alan Gaytan found the net at 45:54, extending their lead to 2-0 with an assist from Tybalt Thornberry. Mustafa Daggig added another goal at 55:42, assisted by Evan Norconk, making it 3-0 in favor of the Raiders. This would ultimately be the final goal of the match as Eastern fell to Southern by a score of 3-0. 

Eastern Oregon will be back in action Friday, Oct. 6 as they travel to Helena, Mont. to take on the Saints of Carroll College. Match time is set for 2:00 p.m. MST.
