EOU Athletics Announces Exciting Lineup for Blue & Gold Weekend 2024

LA GRANDE, Ore. — Eastern Oregon University Athletics and Athletic Director Anji Weissenfluh are thrilled to announce the eagerly anticipated return of Blue & Gold Weekend, scheduled for May 17-18, 2024. This year marks the fourth annual celebration of Blue and Gold Weekend and with the weekend’s return comes fan-favorite events such as the EOU Coaches’ Golf Scramble, the EOU Texas Hold ‘Em Tournament, alumni games, the EOU Football Spring Game, and more!

This year, EOU is proud to introduce the inaugural “Bleed Blue, Give Gold” initiative in partnership with the EOU Foundation. This special giving event embodies the spirit of philanthropy and school pride, providing an opportunity for the EOU community to come together in support of our student-athletes and sports programs.

During Blue & Gold Weekend, each team at EOU will participate in a friendly competition not only on the field but also in fundraising efforts. Donations received during the weekend will directly benefit the teams by covering essential needs such as travel expenses, uniforms, and equipment upgrades.

“We’re excited to kick off Blue & Gold Weekend 2024 and introduce the Bleed Blue, Give Gold initiative,” Athletic Director, Anji Weissenfluh said. “This weekend is not only about celebrating our Mountaineer pride but also about making a tangible difference in the lives of our student-athletes. We encourage everyone to join us in celebrating our athletes and community this spring.”

Fans and alumni won’t want to miss any of the action for Blue and Gold Weekend. The action starts on Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. with the EOU Coaches’ Golf Scramble where members of Mountie Nation can put together a scramble team of three and EOU Athletics will provide a coach or student-athlete to be the fourth member of the team. The scramble will be held at the La Grande Country Club.

Following golf will be the EOU Texas Hold ‘Em Tournament. Competitors can try their luck in the tournament at 7 p.m. out at the La Grande Country Club.
