Eastern Takes Game One Before Rain Rolls In

SANDY, Ore. – The nationally ranked No. 15 Eastern Oregon Softball team was back in action on Saturday as they took on the Knights of Warner Pacific University. The Mountaineers took game one by a score of 11-0 in 5 innings before rain forced game two to be delayed until tomorrow.

The Mountaineers established themselves early behind a pair of first-inning home runs by Hannah Tyree and Madelyn Durham, giving Eastern a 4-0 lead. The onslaught continued in the second inning, with Han. Tyree’s double to left field bringing in two more runs, extending the lead to 6-0. By the end of the inning, Eastern surged to a commanding 9-0 lead. The Mountaineers tacked on two more runs in the fourth inning after Kelly Monaghan’s two-RBI single, taking an 11-0 lead over the Knights. Kaylie Hoskins delivered a masterful performance, striking out an impressive 13 batters over five innings. Eastern closed out the Knights to secure an 11-0 victory in 5 innings.
