LA GRANDE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon Softball is poised for a compelling run as they head into the Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament, coming off their strongest regular season performance since the 2000 season.
The Mounties, boasting a 34-8 overall record, secured an impressive 22-5 standing in conference matchups, clinching second place after exchanging blows with Southern Oregon over the final weekend.
Eastern has been guided by the dynamic pitching duo of Kaylie Hoskins and Kylie Parsons, who hold the two lowest ERAs in the CCC, the two have combined for a 31-6 record and 369 strikeouts. Their impressive season includes a memorable pitching display against the University of Providence, highlighted by Parsons’ no-hitter and Hoskins’ perfect game less than 24 hours later.
Offensively, Eastern Oregon boasts a lineup of formidable hitters led by Katelynn Evans and Addison Ribordy, with batting averages of .369 and .365 respectively. Ribordy further distinguishes herself with a third-place ranking in the conference for on-base percentage, boasting an impressive .492. Haley Tyree has also proven her ability to get on base and make plays, leading the team with 45 hits and tying the single-season program record with 27 stolen bases.
The CCC Tournament, hosted by Oregon Tech at John and Lois Stilwell Stadium in Klamath Falls, will feature the top six finishing teams from the regular season. Eastern Oregon, seeded second overall, will await the winner of the matchup between #6 Carroll College and #3 College of Idaho.
The action-packed tournament is scheduled to kick off on Friday, May 3rd, with Eastern Oregon’s first game slated for 4:30 p.m. against the winner of the aforementioned matchup.
