Eastern Oregon Ends Season with Loss to Montana Western

DILLON, Mont. – Eastern Oregon faced a tough challenge against No. 10 Montana Western in the final game of the regular season, resulting in a 36-12 loss.

The scoring started with Montana Western’s Michael Palandri’s 3-yard run, followed by John Mears’ successful kick. Eastern Oregon responded with a 22-yard field goal by Ethan Cutler, narrowing the gap to 3-7 in the first quarter.

However, Montana Western extended their lead in the second quarter. Palandri connected with Eli Nourse for a 66-yard touchdown and added another 3-yard scoring run of his own, extending their lead to 21-6. Cutler managed a 24-yard field goal for Eastern Oregon, but they trailed 6-21 entering halftime.

The third quarter saw Montana Western’s Dylan Shipley catch a 14-yard touchdown pass, though the Bulldog’s failed to convert the extra point. The fourth quarter featured a team safety by Montana Western, followed by Jake Humphrey’s 11-yard run, bringing the score to 36-6. Late in the game, Quincey Glasper connected with Malachi Spurrier for a 4-yard touchdown, marking his eighth of the season.

Statistically, Montana Western finished with 440 total offensive yards compared to Eastern Oregon’s 297. The rushing game favored Montana Western, led by Jake Humphrey’s 104 yards and two touchdowns. Quincy Glasper led Eastern Oregon with 208 passing yards and one touchdown, but the defense faced challenges, with notable performances from Montana Western’s Aiden Prado and Reese Artz.

Eastern Oregon finishes the 2023 season with a 2-8 record, while Montana Western improves to 9-1 on the year.
