CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Cascade Collegiate Conference announced that nine athletic departments earned Presidents’ Academic Excellence status for the recently completed 2022-23 school year. Eastern Oregon University was one of the nine programs to earn the honor finishing the year with a overall GPA of 3.19. In total, 63% of EOU’s athletes (competing in CCC sanctioned sports) earned Academic All-Conference honors.
“I am so incredibly proud of our student athletes this year for all of their hard work in the classroom that led to this achievement,” Assistant Athletic Director of Academic Success Malia Mills said. “To be able to have an outstanding year, not only athletically, but academically as well, is what being an Eastern Oregon University student-athlete is all about.”
In order to receive the designation a department must achieve and overall combined GPA of 3.0 or better among their student athletes (men/women) that compete in sports that the CCC declares a champion in, and have 60% or higher of student-athletes who are eligible to receive Academic All-Conference (sophomore standing/3.2 GPA) recognition do so.
“Earning Presidents’ Academic Excellence designation represents the highest academic honor our departments can earn from the CCC,” stated CCC Commissioner Robert Cashell. “It is a great accomplishment and recognizes the outstanding efforts in the classroom.”
