CCC Names McDevitt Defensive Player of the Week

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Eastern Oregon University is proud to announce that senior defender Darby McDevitt has been awarded the Rize Laboratory Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for her standout performances in the recent matches against Northwest and Evergreen State.

Over the weekend, McDevitt’s commanding presence on the EOU team was undeniable, especially during their impressive 9-0 victory over Evergreen State. Not only did she showcase her offensive abilities with a goal, but her defensive performance really impacted the game. Neither Northwest nor Evergreen State could break through the EOU defense, pitching shutouts in both games.

“Darby played 2 excellent games,” said head coach Josh Goodman. “She was fantastic defensively while also getting herself a goal and helping facilitate attacks from the back line. She’s been playing at an extremely high level all year and this is well deserved.”

Hailing from Rathdrum, Idaho, McDevitt has consistently showcased her commitment to Eastern Oregon Women’s Soccer throughout her tenure in La Grande. As she moves through her senior year, this recognition as Defensive Player of the Week adds to her growing list of achievements.

Eastern Oregon University is thrilled to see its athletes gain well-deserved recognition and looks forward to more spectacular performances from McDevitt and the entire women’s soccer team.
