The 35th Annual Island Magic Lu’au and Show was held on May 24, 2025, coordinated by The Navigators Club here at EOU. The Lu’au Dinner, at 5:00 p.m., included chicken kelaguen (lemon-onion chicken), kalua pork (slow-cooked pork with cabbage) and salmon, plus deserts like lukwor (sweet drink with coconut heart), pani popo (dinner rolls soaked in condensed milk) and coconut biscuits. At 7:00 p.m. traditional and contemporary dances from the island nations of Northern Marianas, Hawai’i, American Samoa, Marshall Islands, Kiribati, Palau, Pohnpei and French Polynesia were showcased. The event featured Emcees Hartleen Kloulubak and Shane Bartolome and was organized with the help of student volunteers like EOU Freshman Andrew Sandberg. “Island Magic was a great experience, and as a person who helped set up and watched the show, I was able to see the energy that the club put in every step of the way to make the experience as memorable as possible for the audience,” Sandberg said.
